Diners enjoy a Free Lunch.

Transition Town Redditch’s first ever ‘Thoughtful Feast’ has proven an overwhelming success. Over 30 people gathered in Headless Cross this March to join us for a meal with a difference.

No such thing as a free lunch?

Food rescued from being ‘thrown away’ was combined into home-made flavours for a medley of global recipes, including Vegan Jambalaya, Vegetable Biryani, and Carrot Halva.

Some of the food that we saved from the bins.

The day saw young and older coming together over a splendid feast prepared by Transition Town Redditch. Ingredients for the meal included out-of-date food donated by the Co-op supermarket, liberated food from the Black Country ‘skip-divers’, homegrown allotment produce, and items unwanted items from our fridges. Yum!

Entertainment was children’s drawings, group drumming and a reggae DJ.
